Have you ever been camping?
Mid ’80s. Triple L, an experienced Scout. Son, a member of his group. Two daughters primary school age. Great excitement about our first family tent! Tow ball mounted, trailer attached.
The site is gorgeous forest. Pretty site, bumpy bush road. We arrive safely! There’s a picnic table waiting for us! BONUS!
The “blokes” leap out to release the trailer….. the trailer? NO TRAILER. It is mid afternoon and the men depart in search of EVERYTHING! The “girls” try to keep spirits up until the clouds start to roll in. We take refuge under the picnic table!
Soon the “men” turn up having found the trailer in a gully.
The only damage done is to a bottle of tomato sauce ( smashed) and the cables required to connect the “electrics” from the trailer to the car!
Our truncated camping trip saw us home the next day. The trailer connections were fixed and it went with ” the scouts” and ” the dump” on many occasions – not often accompanied by female contingent!
