My words formed after a reflection on the words of Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet- Speak to me of children”.
To the mothers surrounded by your children;
“they are not your children they are the sons and daughters of life’s longing for itself”

To the Mothers whose children have grown and are no longer children;
“they come through you, but not from you…..they are with you but yet do not belong to you.”

To mothers of children who rebel and refuse to “behave”
“you may give them your love ,but not your thoughts
for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow which you cannot visit
not even in your dreams”

For the Mothers whose rapture turned to rape-ture, coersive control and physical violence, bowed down silenced and humiliated
the Universe “sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and bends you with its might….let your bending …be for gladness….”
for even as the Universe loves the arrow that flies, so She loves the bow that is stable”
