Consistency,
I have been a bit of a grumble bum lately, things have not been going to plan or expectation. Lately my love of travelling alone has been blown up by flashing dashboard lights, flashing tow truck lights, tow truck drivers from the Punjab ( a bit frightening at first but lovely, respectful, with the capacity to calm a mad woman stuck on a national highway, for hours in the rain) and the temptation to flash what’s left of my cleavage on my phone to get the attention of the road side assistance organisation!
Two weeks ago, I was at the end of five beautiful days at a glorious retreat centre. I could contemplate on anything and sing in an acoustic that makes my voice sound ethereal. Getting me ready for messages from National Road Authority saying “ you are not in a safe p,ace. Do not get out of your vehicle. Do not undo your seat belt” and what came next!
Today, after getting the pet pooch fed and calm after her ritual 45 minute mourning session, brought on by the departure of our son who works in an aged care “ facility”, starting at 5.00am, Triple L and I changed shifts at about 9.00 am and I had a rest. My snooze was interrupted by a knock on the front door. Beloved pooch went nuts, Triple L ( quadruple bypass, implanted defibrillator) picked her up and I heard a woman’s voice and the pooch barked like an Alsatian, I was bolted to the bed!
Visitor left. Big sigh from Triple L. Dog becomes calm.
“ What was that.” I dared to enquire.
“Sharing the Bible” was his acerbic reply.
Gave me the strength to get off the bed, put on my shoes and face the day. Lifted up by his capacity to make the perfect comment, I am now ready to face the demands of the Queen of the house, Lexi!
Fifty three years on, his capacity to tell it like it is in less than five words, has not changed!
