Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.
Digits still of use! just ask the pooch!
Mum taught me how to knit. She taught her great grand daughter, my grand daughter, how to knit with a mirror! Gabbi is a lefty! Gabbi’s also one of the greatest gifts of my life AND determine. She gave up with the mirror and left hand and now she is ambidextrous-in yarn!
I used to say my hands are my life. As a musician, pianist, the only thing I had a special talent in ,or so I thought, was playing. I don’t play now. Now I write. Digits used differently of course. Single finger on the phone, touch type on the qwert-y keyboard. I become furious when I have to negotiate the alphabetical display on the screen when searching for a title on BritBox!
Hand me my knitting needle , metal ” needles” and nylon line to allow for hundred of stitches, and I am content. Feather and fan stitch creates a beautiful ripple effect which adds to the random wonder of the variegated huge 8ply, 100% acrylic, 200 gram “balls”, labelled “Jumbo Muffins”, a possible descriptor of my own self when I was a ” stock sized 26″! Now I can feel my ribs and my hips, including the artificial one!
Old age is not for sissies my Mother used to remind me! Don’t need reminding anymore. But the simple joy of knitting brings me joy.
