I have 2 mantras.
Number 1: every day above ground’s a bonus. This guides me every day. Too many people I love, who have been part of my spiritual bone marrow, have died . Shockingly sudden deaths or agonisingly drawing out of the inevitable end. The only millisecond we are guaranteed is the one we’re in. When it’s gone- it’s over.
I believe “Story” is eternal – if it’s told! It reminds me that telling it, remembering them, laughing, weeping, angry, wonder telling keeps “them” going for me.
Number 2: “if I don’t do it, who will?” This is not some esoteric reflection. No! Absolutely mundane reference to guttural growls when finding the following: the kitchen tidy lid won’t shut because it’s full to bursting point; the toilet paper has not been renewed; those who stand to pee miss the target leaving spots on the floor. towel cupboard is void but the used ones are bulging out of the basket – 15 steps to the laundry but if I don’t do it, who will? I could go on and on and on!
But like ternary form in music- “ABA” – the second mantra is always followed by the first one!
Every day above ground IS a bonus:
If I don’t do it, who will
Every day above ground IS a bonus!
